The SeatGuru Alternative, Reimagined
From the creator of SeatGuru
Hi, I'm Matt. In 2001 I created SeatGuru. My passion for flying and airline seat differences didn't end when we sold the business to Expedia in 2007 — who later spun it out with TripAdvisor. But right as I retired from a big corporate job, TripAdvisor abruptly shut SeatGuru down in November 2025, with no replacement. 25 years of seat data, gone overnight.
I immediately sprung into action, thinking I'd build it again from scratch. That is, until I came across AeroLOPA — and what I quickly realized was the most important thing to happen to airline seating since SeatGuru itself: AeroLOPA has a large collection of highly detailed seat maps, drawn to-scale by a talented architect who also loves airline travel and seating. Why does to-scale matter? Because drawn-to-scale means we can tell you how much legroom there really is before that bulkhead. We can tell you how far the exit door bulges into your leg area. We can tell you which seats have the best window view — and which have a poor one — because we know exactly how each seat aligns to each window on the plane. When the fuselage tapers at the rear of the aircraft and the airline had to shrink the seats by an inch of width to fit three across? We've got that too.
Nobody else is doing this. Every other seat-map site — SeatGuru included — is still using the same rectangle boxes with a nose and a tail attached, just like I drew 25 years ago. What AeroLOPA is doing is so much better. So, welcome to our site, and to the most accurate aircraft seat maps on the internet. I hope you enjoy it here.

Frequently asked questions
Is SeatGuru shut down?
Yes. TripAdvisor, which had owned SeatGuru since spinning it out from Expedia, shut the service down in November 2025. 25 years of seat data was taken offline with no replacement offered.
Is there a SeatGuru replacement?
AeroLOPA is the modern replacement. It’s built by a licensed architect who draws every seat map to scale — something no other site does, including SeatGuru at its peak.
What is the best SeatGuru alternative?
AeroLOPA, by a wide margin. To-scale seat maps reveal information no other site can show: real legroom before a bulkhead, exact window alignment for every row, and which exit doors bulge into the seat space. Every major airline is covered.
How is AeroLOPA different from SeatGuru?
SeatGuru used generic rectangle-and-circle seat diagrams — the same approach every seat-map site still uses today. AeroLOPA's seat maps are architectural drawings, accurate to the inch. You see the real plane, not a schematic.
Does AeroLOPA have seat reviews?
Yes. Every seat is color-coded by quality and includes measurements, traveler comments, and cabin-specific amenity information like IFE and WiFi quality.
Is AeroLOPA free?
Yes, free for every traveler. A quick free account unlocks the full seat maps, lets you save aircraft for upcoming trips, and alerts you when your flight's seat map changes before you fly.
