The Type Z is a four class configured Boeing 777-200ER normally used on ultra long range operations. During 2021, these aircraft have been mainly confined to cargo operations and have only rarely been used for passenger service. The last of this type is expected to be refurbished before the end of 2021, when they will re-enter service in the 77L configuration.
This aircraft type is fitted with four classes accommodated across five
cabins. All aircraft are equipped with Wifi which allows you to stay
connected during your flight. Note, AC power sockets are only provided in First and Club World. The installed in-flight entertainment is
powered by a Collins TES system
First
- 12 suites convert to fully flat beds, 79" long, 22" width (between armrests)
- Retractable, double pivoting 15.4" touch screen display
- Personal locker
- Buddy seat
- Universal 110V AC delivering up to 125 Watts
Features the 2010 version of BA's "Prime" ergonomically designed suite which provides comfort and support in all modes from the upright landing position to the conversion to a fully flat sprung diaphragm bed, exquisitely finished in hand double stitched leather with polished lacquer finished tables. The windows are framed as a single large format glass lined opening with electronically controlled blind, taking a gentle historical design cue from an earlier Imperial Airways era.
The cabin avoids ostentatious gadgets and gimmicks. The bed is cleverly designed so when in bed mode, the seat cushions, padded armrests, and foot stool all align horizontally with the surrounding horizontal padded surfaces, adding more space for sleeping. Due to the orientation of the centre seats which are angled slightly more towards the front than the corresponding window seats, the centre seats offer additional bed length.
Club World
- 48 seats arranged forward/aft facing
- Converts to 72" flat bed, or 78" z-bed, 20" width between armrests
- Retractable, double pivoting 12.4" touch screen display
- 110V AC delivering up to 125 Watts (EU/US socket)
Features the original version of BA's "Stretch" ergonomically designed seat, which are arranged in pairs comprised of forward facing aisle and rear facing window/centre seats. Each seat has a small drawer to store your personal items. The video display is a double hinged unit allowing direct viewing from a variety of angles. Note, the display must be stowed during take-off and landing.
When the seats are converted to flat beds, access/egress to window and centre seats typically involves stepping over your neighbour's feet. Seats 15A, 15E, 15F, and 15K located at the rear of cabin avoid this obstacle.
There is typically a few inches of "breathing" space around the edges of the foot stool which allow you extend your feet beyond the cushioned surface.
